24-year-old Tommy Paul is a sloid all-courter with a penchant for clay and he came so close to stunning Jannik Sinner in the first round of the Madrid Open last week, taking the Italian to two tiebreaks before his opponent improved in the third. Paul won his first ATP title late last year at the Stockholm Open and if he continues his current trajectory he could be seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time later this month at Roland-Garros. 34-year-old Albert Ramos-Vinolas lost to Marin Cilic in three sets in Madrid last week and the clay specialist has been slightly underwhelming this swing so far. This match looks like a good candidate for three sets but backing Tommy Paul to win at least one of them seems the more sensible option for an accumulator. The American won their only previous meeting in straight sets back in 2020.
