38-year-old Fernando Verdasco qualified for the round of 16 at the Estoril Open as a lucky loser but he made the most of the opportunity, beating Pablo Cuevas in straight sets. The former world number seven is clearly in the twilight of his fantastic career but he will fancy his chances against defending champion Albert Ramos-Vinolas here with few secrets between the two Spanish veterans. 34-year-old Ramos-Vinolas has conceded a set in both of his matches so far against Jordan Thompson and most recently Soonwoo Kwon and he could be vulnerable after an out of sorts straight-sets loss to Lloyd Harris at the Barcelona Open. Ramos-Vinolas beat Verdasco in two here last season on his way to the titles and the younger Spaniard has won the last three meetings between the two to level their head-to-head record to 5-5.
