British wildcard Alastair Gray claimed the biggest win of his career on Tuesday, beating the 2018 Boy’s Singles champion Chun-hsin Tseng in straight sets in front of a jubilant Court 14. In doing so, the 24-year-old claimed the first tour-level win of his career and it will be fascinating to see the transformation coming into a really tough second round draw with world number 14 Taylor Fritz. Fritz, also 24, won his third ATP title at the Eastbourne International last week, his second there after claiming a first in 2019, and he made it five-straight wins with a straight-sets victory over Lorenzo Musetti on Tuesday. The American reached the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time at the Australian Open earlier this season and came very close to stunning Stefanos Tsitsipas in an eventual five-set defeat. Fritz is the clear favourite to come through this match but Gray will have the full support of a home underdog behind him and that makes an outright pick for the 11th seed a sensible call.
