THE PREDICTION

Former world number two Petra Kvitova looks in good shape this week after ousting fifth-seed Ons Jabeur in a topsy-turvy three-set thriller on Thursday. The 32-year-old has come past three tough foes this week in Jabeur, Sorana Cirstea and Jil Teichmann in form that saw win a 29th WTA title back in June at the Eastbourne International but she is yet to add the Cincinnati Open to her current total of seven Masters titles. World number 63 Ajla Tomljanovic beat Veronika Kudermetova in three sets for the second time in two weeks on Thursday, after also beating the Russian in Toronto, and that backed-up a huge result over third-seed Paula Badosa. The 29-year-old deserved a run like this after ranking points were cruelly scrapped at Wimbledon, where she has enjoyed her two best campaigns with successive quarter-finals reached this and last season. The Aussie is perennially underestimated and she will be desperate to finally realise some potential this weekend. A first meeting with Kvitova is likely to see three sets, so back Tomljanovic to win at least one in the form of her career.
