World number 15 Madison Keys continued her recent solid form with a straight-sets victory over Magda Linette on Tuesday. The 27-year-old lost to Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals of the San Diego Open last week after an excellent result against Daria Kasatkina and she has beaten the likes of Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina on hardcourts this swing, with her most memorable run ending in the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Masters. 29-year-old Ajla Tomljanovic will be a serious test, though, with the Aussie in the form of her career. Tomljanovic should set a career-high WTA world ranking at around 32nd no matter the outcome here after conceding just three games to Fernanda Contreras in the first round and she has lost to the eventual finalist in four of her last five tournaments. Current form says Tomljanovic edges this fourth meeting with Keys but the American is probably favoured more by the conditions and she leads their head-to-head 2-1 at this stage. Three sets seem likelier than two here, so the sensible move is backing Keys to win at least one whilst the potentially shrewd move is siding with Tomljanovic to do the same.
