World number 114 Andy Murray got his Winston-Salem campaign underway in difficult circumstances after a last-minute lucky loser Noah Rubin came in to the picture. 34-year-old Murray beat Rubin in comprehensive fashion, conceding just two games to the American in a dominant display we have not seen much of in this season of comebacks and injury frustrations. He faces a tough draw next with world number 51 Frances Tiafoe receiving a bye to the second round as the 13th seed here. 23-year-old Tiafoe won his only ATP title to date at the Delray Beach Open, also an American ATP 250 event, and he is a different player in these occasions with big coverage.
