World number 12 Garbine Muguruza has conceded just six games over her first two matches at Wimbledon against Fiona Ferro and Lesley Kerkhove. The frightening stat for her peers at SW19 is that the Spaniard has never lost in any round from here on in until the final having finished runner-up in 2015 and winning in 2017. Still, in her way is the mightily impressive Ons Jabeur who handed Venus Williams a second-set bagel on Wednesday to win both of her matches in straight sets too. The 26-year-old won her first WTA title at the Birmingham Classic in June and she could go on to have a really successful season no matter the result here.
Muguruza was the victor in a hard-fought three-set battle at the Hobart International last season but Jabeur’s level has improved exponentially since then. The Tunisisan is the form player on grass here but Muguruza is the two-time Grand Slam champion and that makes for a wonderfully unpredictable tussle. Take this match to need three sets in what could be one of the best of the third round.
