THE PREDICTION
14th seed Hubert Hurkacz has come through two tough matches now against Lorenzo Musetti and Marcos Giron without dropping a set to safely restore his lost confidence. The Pole won the Miami Open back in April but suffered a real lapse in form after that all the way up to this Wimbledon campaign. The decision not play doubles with Felix Auger-Aliassime looks to have paid off as the pair fully focus on their chances in the Singles and this will be a fascinating second meeting with world number 38 Alexander Bublik. The Kazakh has also not dropped a set and after a straightforward first round win over Mikhail Kukushkin he was mightily impressive in ousting a troubled Grigor Dimitrov in Thursday. In stark contrast to Hurkacz, Bublik is playing in both the Men’s and Mixed Doubles but that in turn could really help the charismatic maverick to dial-in to his potential this campaign.
24-year-old Bublik won their previous meeting at the 2020 Dubai Open in straight sets but this match looks likely to see at least four. This could actually end up one of the best of round three but should go under the radar on a blockbuster Saturday at SW19.
