World number one Ashleigh Barty was in a high-quality match on Centre Court with Anna Blinkova on Thursday but ultimately came through it in straight sets. The 25-year-old will be focusing solely on her own performances at Wimbledon but as the draw continues to open up she is slowly becoming a firmer favourite with each passing round. In her way is world number 64 Katerina Siniakova who has taken her Roland-Garros Women’s Doubles title-winning form and run with it in her personal game. The Czech finished runner-up to Angelique Kerber at the Bad Homburg Open last Saturday after winning the French Open with Barbora Krejcikova, whom she is also partnered with at Wimbledon, and has so far played well at SW19.
Siniakova beat Coco Vandeweghe over three sets on Thursday in an impressive result but facing the world number one will be the 25-year-old’s toughest challenge yet. Barty has admitted to living the grass and has played like it so far but she has barely scratched the surface of what she is capable of on this surface. Siniakova is well capable of stealing a set, so take Barty to win outright on Saturday.
