THE PREDICTION
Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray raced to a two set and 5-0 lead in the third against world number 28 but a serious lapse in intensity saw him concede that third set before rallying well to win in four. The former world number one will take all the confidence into a second round match that should be an altogether more easier affair in a first meeting with world number 151 Oscar Otte. The German did incredibly well to beat fellow qualifier Arthur Rinderknech in five sets and a championship tiebreak but he should be feeling that effort still on Wednesday evening and the Wimbledon crowd will be set against him.
27-year-old Otte reached a career-high 127th in the world back in 2017 and spends most of his year on the Challenger circuit so if Murray can get his body back in check after a hard graft on Monday he should be in a strong position here. The 34-year-old’s journey at Wimbledon in 2021 is almost certainly to be played out on Centre Court and that should help him through the tougher matches before an elite player comes calling to challenge.
