Former world number three Marin Cilic looks set to fly under the radar at Wimbledon this year after a successful grass season so far translated well into a straight-sets win on Tuesday. The 32-year-old beat Salvatore Caruso in strong fashion via two tiebreaks and has been rewarded with another winnable fixture against French qualifier Benjamin Bonzi. World number 119 Bonzi overcame fellow qualifier Marco Trungelliti in five sets on Wednesday and he should be feeling that effort less than 24 hours later.
In a time-slot that certainly favours 32nd seed Cilic, the big-serving Croatian should be able to navigate another straight-sets pathway through to the third round. Cilic won the Stuttgart Open just over two weeks ago to add to his now three titles on grass. That experience should tell against 25-year-old Bonzi, who may feel a little hard done by playing so soon after a five-setter. Take Cilic to win in three.
