Plucky qualifier Kristie Ahn saved match points in her match against British hopeful Heather Watson but the American went on to win the deciding set 8-6 in a tumultuous clash. Having moved onto Court 1 late in the evening, Ahn coped fabulously well with the big occasion and she will be fearless in facing fellow American Sloane Stephens in the second round.
