2018 Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber got off to s strong start against Nina Stojanovic on Tuesday, beating the Serb in straight sets. With that potential banana skin out of the way following a title win at the Bad Homburg Open, the 33-year-old should be feeling more confident with each passing round now and in that mood she will always be a contender for the title. Kerber will face Sara Sorribes Tormo for the first time after the Spaniard overcame a really tough opening match with Ana Konjuh in three sets yesterday.
24-year-old Sorribes Tormo is enjoying her strongest year on tour so far after winning her first ever WTA title at the Abierto Zapopan Open in Mexico back in March. The current world number 50 will be fearless in facing a three-time Grand Slam champion and could well have been the favourite to come through if this had taken place two weeks ago.
