World number 75 Ajla Tomljanovic beat Greet Minnen in straight sets on Wednesday to reach the second round of Wimbledon for a third time. The 28-year-old has never reached the third round of any Grand Slam before and faces an upward struggle to do here if her next opponent has anything to say about it. The 31-year-old played one of the best matches of her career against fifth seed Bianca Andreescu, conceding just three games on Wednesday. The Frenchwoman made the semi-finals of the German Open a few weeks ago to show for some strong grass form coming into SW19 and she will be one to watch moving forwards.
World number 58 Cornet leads 2-1 in a head-to-head record with Tomjlanovic and won their most recent contest back in February at the Gippsland Trophy in Melbourne. After the level of tennis she produced against Andreescu she should be flying high here and well capable of beating the Aussie on Thursday.
