THE PREDICTION
World number 50 Sebastian Korda announced himself on Centre Court as a future star with an excellent performance against the 22nd seed Dan Evans. The 20-year-old’s mentality and maturity look well beyond his years and whilst it is clear that his game is still improving he already has a really strong and varied playstyle that should suit him well on grass. Having already knocked out two seeds in Evans and Alex de Minaur, Korda will face world number 29 Karen Khachanov next as the 25th seed came through a one-sided affair with Frances Tiafoe on Friday. 25-year-old Khachanov was solid as a rock against an out-of-sorts Tiafoe and that will greatly encourage the Russian after a relatively poor few years on tour.
This should be a high-quality first meeting between Korda and Khachanov full of long rallies and Korda will do well to emulate his excellent net game against the Russian’s incredible wingspan. This one could really go any which way as former world number eight Khachanov looks to be coming back into form but take future star Korda to win at least a set here as the slightest of favourites.
