THE PREDICTION
After an emotionally-charged three-set match with Carla Suarez Navarro in the first round of Wimbledon world number one Ash Barty has got down to business with back-to-back straight sets wins. The Aussie still has some gears left to find at SW19 after solid wins over Anna Blinkova and Katerina Siniakova but she will need them in time for this mouth-watering round of 16 clash against Roland-Garros champion Barbora Krejcikova. The Czech 14th seed was part of a proper battle on Saturday against Anastasija Sevastova but she came back strongly to win her 15th match in a row as she maintains the best form of any player on tour, ATP or WTA.
Having beaten Krejcikova’s Roland-Garros winning doubles partner Siniakova, Barty will have to be at her very best to beat the world number 17 in a fixture that should well have been the final come Saturday afternoon. In many ways the winner of this match could be the favourite for the title and despite Barty’s professional excellence so far recent performances suggest that Krejcikova is the likelier of the two to come through. Take the Czech to win at least a set here in a match that easily could go either way.
