South African Lloyd Harris is competing in his first Grand Slams of his career in 2021 and he has done himself no harm with his efforts at the Australian Open as well as the French Open. He made the third round in Melbourne but could not match that at Roland-Garros with the second round the best he could manage. He is inexperienced on the grass with him tending to focus on the hard courts but boasting a winning W-L record across the board so far this year, the 24-year-old is primed to showcase his improving talents at Wimbledon.
RICARDAS BERANKIS
Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis returns to Wimbledon looking to reach the second round for the fourth time in his career. The 31-year-old played reasonably well in Halle last week before losing to Kei Nishikori in the Round of 32 but he faces a tough opponent in Lloyd Harris here. He lost their only previous meeting in Washington in 2019 and the South African has notably improved since that clash.
THE PREDICTION
Lloyd Harris and Ricardas Berankis meet in the first round of Wimbledon and it is the talented young South African who is favoured coming into this game. The 24-year-old has little experience on grass and at Wimbledon but he has shown no fear at the other Grand Slams this year and is unlikely to here. The draw has been relatively kind to him here as it is hard to see Berankis causing him too many issues so expect Harris to progress with relative ease.
