DUSAN LAJOVIC
It has been a poor year for Dusan Lajovic so far having lost nearly double the amount of games that he has won, with his 8-15 record leaving a lot to be desired ahead of Wimbledon. He has only won four career matches on grass with a further 12 matches ending in defeat, while his 2-6 record at SW19 has seen him yet to make it beyond the second round.
GILLES SIMON
Simon is undoubtedly in the twilight of his career now and he has not enjoyed a good year so far having won just two of his 14 matches on tour. He has practically no form to speak of with his last nine matches all ending in defeat but he will be determined to avoid a first-round exit at Wimbledon for the first time since 2013.
THE PREDICTION
This is a very tough match to call as neither man has been able to muster any form recently, particularly Simon who has tasted victory just twice in 2021. The 36-year-old Frenchman is vastly experienced though and is a former quarter-finalist at Wimbledon so he has proven he can perform on the surface in the past. His current losing streak is bound to have dented his confidence though, and with Lajovic also playing well below his best, this could well be an error-strewn contest. With that in mind, backing both players to win a set looks worthwhile.
