World number two Daniil Medvedev looks the champion-elect here in Cincinnati already after his excellent campaign at the Canada Masters last week. The 2019 champion made short work of Mackenzie McDonald in the second round and will be the heavy favourite to stop Grigor Dimitrov’s sudden run at the round of 16 stage. World number 21 Dimitrov has won two matches on the spin for the first time since April at the Monte-Carlo Masters in what has been a torrid year for the 30-year-old. Dimitrov looked good against Alexander Bublik yesterday and two straight-set wins over the Kazakh and Roberto Bautista Agut is good going indeed. However, Medvedev leads this head-to-head record 2-1 and has won the previous two meetings fairly comfortably. Dimitrov is capable of forcing a decider here, though it is unlikely. Take Medvedev as the winner inside an accumulator or to win in straight sets as a one-off.
