The current world number 150 is yet to drop a set through from the qualifying rounds to the round of 16 after conceding just one game to Sara Sorribes Tormo on Saturday evening. World number 43 Shelby Rogers provided the biggest shock of the day, though, in beating world number one Ash Barty in three sets. Shelby Rogers has been there or thereabouts on many occasions across many tournaments over the years but her defeat of Wimbledon champion Ash Barty is one of the best of her career. The 28-year-old will have to share the love on court for this round of 16 clash with Emma Raducanu, who has won over New York one brilliant performance at a time. If this match-up had been drawn before Rogers beat Barty, it would be hard not to back the positive force of Raducanu’s momentum right now but this looks set to be a thrilling test of the teenager’s credentials now. This looks the toughest match to call on Monday at the US Open. Take Raducanu to win at least a set, with the crowd likely to help her out despite facing an American.
