James Duckworth has achieved his career best performances at the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon all in the same year. Third round appearances in Melbourne and London sandwiched a French Open second round run in 2021. The Australian hadn’t made it past the first round of any Grand Slam since the US Open in 2016 before this year so it is evident he has hit a good run of form. Similar to Martinez, Duckworth has also achieved his highest world ranking recently as he sits number 67 in the world.

Despite Pedro Martinez’s impressive start to his career; it is James Duckworth who will come into this as the slight favourite. Both players are enjoying impressive years and both will be confident ahead of this match. However, Martinez has had a lack of match practice in comparison to Duckworth in recent weeks.
