His most recent ranking of 57th is a career high and emblematic of a rising star. His fourth round appearances at Roland-Garros in the French Open at the start of the summer season is an example of his undoubted quality and potential.
EMILIO NAVA
Emilio Nava comes into this tournament as one of the wild card entries. This is Nava’s first ever appearances at a Grand Slam tournament and the 19 year-old has had relative success in the Junior US Open whereby he reached the final only to lose to Jonas Forejtek of the Czech Republic. He is currently ranked 442nd in the world.
THE PREDICTION
There is a symmetry to these two and there are similarities in their careers. These two met in the Junior Australian Open final in January 2019. Musetti came out on top 2-1 and since then, the Italian has gone on to bloody the noses of many of men’s Tennis elites; including a victory over Diego Schwartzman, the world number nine, on a hard court in the Mexican Open in 2021. Musetti will come into this as the favourite.
