Corentin Moutet slipped from being the number 67 in the world to number 90 over the summer. The 22 year-old from France remains a potential star of the sport and he has managed to make it past the first round of every Grand Slam at this early stage in his career. Moutet is yet to make a distinct impression on the ATP Tour after a Qatar Open final defeat against Andrey Rublev in January 2020.

Stefano Travaglia comes into this tournament ranked 100th in the world which is a fall from his 60th placed ranking in February 2021. Travaglia, who turned pro in 2008, has had a fairly disappointing year in the Grand Slams. The 29 year-old did reach a hard surface ATP Tour final in the Great Ocean Road Open in February of this year, though. The Italian lost in straight sets to his compatriot Jannik Sinner.
THE PREDICTION
This is a match between two players that haven’t had much in the way of great recent form and seem to be fairly evenly matches. However, Travaglia looks slightly more out of sorts and Moutet should be the player trusted more. It could be four or five sets but Moutet comes in as the slight favourite.
