Veteran Andreas Seppi turned 37 in February but remains a competitive opponent in the early stages of Grand Slam tournaments. The Italian is currently ranked 91st in the world and hasn’t made it past the third round of a major since the Australian Open in 2019. ATP Tour Final appearances have dried up in recent years but he did finish as the runner-up in the New York Open on a hard surface, similar to what he will have here, in February 2020 whereby he lost to Brit Kyle Edmund.

“Iron Man of Tennis” Marton Fucsovics recently enjoyed his best ever showing at a Grand Slam with a stunning run to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon in July, where he lost to the eventual champion Novak Djokovic. The 29-year-old also finished runner-up to his nemesis Andrey Rublev at the Rotterdam Open back in March which began a bizarre streak of four losses to the Russian in his next four tournaments. He has one ATP title to his name so far from the Geneva Open in 2018.
THE PREDICTION
Despite Seppi’s relative success on a hard court in similar surroundings not so long ago, Seppi will do well to make this a competitive match. The Hungarian Marton Fucsovics has won the last two meetings between these two in the head-to-head battle and he will be fully expecting to make that three in a row.
