World number five Andrey Rublev is yet to drop a set in San Diego with two convincing wins over Brandon Nakashima and Diego Schwartzman. The 23-year-old will be enjoying his place as the top seed here and his record against players ranked below him is one of the best on tour, although world number 28 Cam Norrie is a tricky customer. The unorthodox lefty claimed yet another top 20 win on Friday with a straight-sets dismissal of Denis Shapovalov, who he has beaten twice this season, after coming through an all-British test with Dan Evans. 26-year-old Norrie is well capable of pulling the upset here in his best season on tour, with last year’s straight-sets defeat to Rublev not the best benchmark for how this second meeting may go. Take Norrie to win at least a set here with the scent of an upset hanging around this semi-final.
