World number 12 Maria Sakkari was in a bullish mood against the top seed Iga Swiatek on Saturday, beating the Pole in two powerful sets of tennis that make her the favourite for the Ostrava Open title. The Greek is yet to drop a set this week against three tough opponents and she is in the form of her life at a career-high ranking with two Grand Slam semi-finals reached thus year. World number 30 Anett Kontaveit has been immensely impressive this week too, though, going one better than Sakkari with four consecutive straight-set results over the likes of top players Belinda Bencic, Paula Badosa and most recently the second seed Petra Kvitova. 25-year-old Kontaveit recently won the Cleveland Championships on a hard court prior to the US Open.
