THE PREDICTION
After a disappointing Wimbledon campaign world number 16 Casper Ruud is back on the surface he loves best on the clay courts of the Swedish Open and a hot favourite to at least make the final. The 22-year-old won his second of two ATP titles, both on clay, back in May at the Geneva Open and plays this quarter-final as the first seed of a tournament for the first time. In his way is an intriguing player in world number 134 Henri Laaksonen. The 29-year-old Swiss was playing well at Roland-Garros before an injury forced him to retire in the third round and his defeat of the sixth seed Lorenzo Musetti in the first round here is vastly impressive. With both players on their best surface, Ruud is likely to be too high a ceiling to reach for Laaksonen but he is enough of a threat to suggest opting for Ruud as the outright winner here is safest.
