THE PREDICTION
An unlikely semi-final between world number 47 Marin Cilic and number 142 Jurij Rodionov looks set to go the distance. 32-year-old Cilic has quietly gone about a perfect campaign so far as he took out the first seed Denis Shapovalov on Friday via his third-successive straight-sets win after defeat to Roger Federer last week at Roland-Garros. The Croat loves the grass and will likely enjoy a good run at Queen’s Club next week at an ATP 500 event he has won twice before so he will be the solid favourite to come through this match but 22-year-old Rodionov has been upsetting odds all week long. The Austrian came back from a set down to beat fourth seed Alex de Minaur and his never say die attitude should benefit him here against Cilic who can often suffer the occasional lapse. However, Cilic has come this far without dropping a set and it is likeliest that he continues that streak here. Take Cilic to win in straight sets or, perhaps more safely, for Cilic to win and at least one tiebreak in the match.
