Roberto Bautista Agut is the ninth seed at the Madrid Masters and a crowd favourite here which likely helped him over the line in a tough opening match with Marc Cecchinato on Tuesday. The Spaniard will face 36-year-old John Isner for the second time this season after beating the American in a close, thrilling Miami Open clash last month but this match should be a little more in his favour on clay. World number 39 Isner won his opening match at the Madrid Masters confidently enough in straight sets but if Bautista Agut can beat the American on a hard court he should be able to repeat the feat on clay. Isner is a bit of a mystery these days and well capable of pulling off an upset but take Bautista Agut to win this outright.
