THE PREDICTION
World number 39 John Isner proved he still has plenty to offer at the top of the game after he beat Roberto Bautista Agut in three mammoth sets, on clay of all surfaces. In doing so, the 36-year-old avenged a loss at the Miami Open last month in a title he was defending and that was the last time he met Andrey Rublev in 2015 as a teenager. That day Isner came through the first round match in straight sets but now 23-year-old Rublev is world number seven and a totally different player. The Russian struggled through his first match in Madrid and has not looked his best on clay yet, despite beating an out-0of-sorts Rafael Nadal at the Monte-Carlo Masters last month. This match looks a difficult one to call with Rublev nowhere near his blistering best. The 23-year-old should be the one coming through to the quarter-finals but Isner has looked confident so far and could pull off the shock.
