World number 22 Casper Ruud has looked impeccable so far in two straight-sets victories over Felix Auger-Aliassime and Yoshihito Nishioka but the Norwegian has not been rewarded for his efforts in drawing Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek started his Madrid Masters campaign off in sublime fashion by blowing Benoit Paire off the court on Wednesday evening and he has only lost to Rafael Nadal, in the final of the Barcelona Open, on clay this season so far. In fact world number five Tsitsipas is yet to drop a set to anyone other than king of clay Nadal this season and that should worry Ruud here despite his proficiency in this surface. 22-year-old Ruud is well capable of forcing a decider in this first meeting between the two players but the likeliest outcome is for Tsitsipas to continue his Masters form from a Monte-Carlo win through to the quarter-finals here in a straight-sets victory.
