29-year-old Grigor Dimitrov looked to be going well in his Monte-Carlo Masters campaign before meeting kryptonite Rafael Nadal in the round of 16, taking just two games in a humbling defeat. The Bulgarian is wholly unpredictable and has been for a few seasons; well capable of blasting through to the quarter-finals of any tournament he enters or bombing out in the first round. For that reason, world number 53 Lloyd Harris is an intriguing first round draw. The South African made the final of the Dubai Open back in March but has struggled for form since, though this enticing first match in Madrid will be a great motivator. The 24-year-old could force a decider here but it would be guesswork to opt for sets in this match. World number 17 Dimitrov should be winning this in straight sets but take the enigmatic Bulgarian to win outright here.
