THE PREDICTION
32-year-old Adrian Mannarino is on a three-match losing streak stretching back to the second round of the Miami Open and there is the sense of an upset here as he takes on a player 15 years his junior. 17-year-old Carlos Alcaraz has plenty of hype to deal with already but the teenager should enjoy some limited Spanish crowds here in Madrid eager to see him do well. His defeats of Feliciano Lopez and Casper Ruud at the Andalucia Open last month were vastly impressive and the support should help him take a set here at least. It could be worth taking a punt on the youngster to win this outright in Madrid, though Mannarino is a consummate professional. The line is for this to see three sets, but a win for Alcaraz would not be a huge surprise.
