THE PREDICTION
World number three Stefanos Tsitsipas looks to be enjoying his tennis once again after a difficult few months. The 22-year-old lost the Roland-Garros final from two sets up to Novak Djokovic and he looks to have needed the fun of the Laver Cup to bring him back to life on court. A first ever win over Nick Kyrgios is impressive enough but he also played a superb double match alongside Andrey Rublev to beat the Aussie and John Isner to give Team Europe a practically unassailable 11-1 lead. World number 22 Isner came very close to beating Alexander Zverev in the second singles match yesterday but ultimately fell short in the championship tiebreak. The 36-year-old is responsible for Team World’s only point so far after winning the Day 1 doubles alongside Denis Shapovalov.
Tsitsipas and Isner have met six times before now and played out some very tight matches but the Greek has had the better of them in recent years. Tsitsipas has won each of their last four encounters including twice this year at the Mexican Open and in the third round of Roland-Garros. Isner’s set against Zverev on Saturday suggests he could take this to a decider once again here with the American loving his time so far in Boston, so take Tsitsipas to win outright and for at least one tiebreak in the match. Five of their six meetings have seen at least one tiebreak.
