US Open champion Daniil Medvedev made a mockery of any suggestions that he could come into the Laver Cup a little cold after his success in New York by handing Denis Shapovalov a second-set bagel to win in two. Conceding just four games to the Canadian is mightily impressive fare for the world number two and he looks set to make it two from two on Day 3 in this oft-played mismatch against Diego Schwartzman. World number 15 Schwartzman has never beaten Medvedev in six previous attempts and he has managed to take just one set off the Russian in that time. Two of those six wins for Medvedev have come in international competition at the ATP Cup and his performance against Shapovalov suggests this could be another bruising for the Argentine. Medvedev not winning this in straight sets would be a huge surprise.
