World number seven Andrey Rublev has struggled for consistency for a little over a month now but has still beaten the likes of Rafael Nadal and Casper Ruud on clay in that time and the Russian is always dangerous. A loss to John Isner in Madrid last week was disappointing but the altitude in Madrid certainly favoured the big-serving American’s game and Rublev should fare a lot better in these conditions. World number 41 Jan-Lennard Struff made short work of Aljaz Bedene on Monday and took a set off Rublev earlier this year in a three-set defeat that levelled their head-to-head record at 1-1 but the German is likely to see that increase to 2-1 come the end of this match. Rublev’s current form makes his usual straight-sets dominance of the early rounds a bit of a risk so take the Russian to win outright here.
