THE PREDICTION
20-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime’s excellent second-round win over Diego Schwartzman went slightly under the radar on Wednesday morning but he will face a second successive Argentine now in the round of 16 and this one is in much better form. World number 64 Federico Delbonis beat David Goffin in straight sets to reach the round of 16 here in Rome for the first time and also beat Karen Khachanov in the first round for his first ever win at the Italian Open. The 30-yeaer-old is in some of the form of his life on his favoured surface and it took world number nine Matteo Berrettini to knock him out of last week’s Madrid Open. This first meeting between the two should see 20-year-old Auger-Aliassime win nine times out of 10 but take the Argentine to take a set at least here as the likeliest winner of a difficult match to call. Auger-Aliassime is getting better on clay all the time under the tutelage of Toni Nadal.
