World number one Novak Djokovic made short work of beating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets in Thursday morning to back-up a solid-enough win over Taylor Fritz the round prior. The Serb will face his toughest foe by far here in world number five Stefanos Tsitsipas, with the Greek beating an excellent Matteo Berrettini in straight sets later on Thursday to reach the quarter-finals in eight of his 10 tournaments played this season. This should be a stunning seventh encounter between the two with Tsitsipas in excellent form and Djokovic not quite up to his prolific best just yet. 33-year-old Djokovic has won the last three meetings between them in a row, and both on clay including last year’s five-set epic in the semi-finals of Roland-Garros, but 22-year-old Tsitsipas has upped his game on this surface over the last month and this could go either way. Take this one to see three sets and leave a winner up to chance with the growing crowds in Rome likely to aid whomever gains the upper hand over the line.
