This looks a particularly difficult match to call in a first meeting between Italian wildcard Stefano Travaglia and Benoit Paire, with the Frenchman winning just his second match of the season last Tuesday in a much improved performance. The 32-year-old beat Munich Open champion Nikoloz Basilashvili in straight sets before losing quickly to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round but if he plays to that level here he will be the favourite to come through. 29-year-old Travaglia is riding a pretty terrible eight-match losing streak since losing to fellow Italian Jannik Sonner in the Great Ocean Road Open but a home crowd could change his fortunes in Rome. In any case, this match could go any which way with neither player in any great shape. Take it to see three sets or leave it well alone.
