THE PREDICTION
World number 80 Salvatore Caruso was handed a wildcard entry to the Italian Open but has not been gifted an easy first round tie with this first meeting with David Goffin. This match, however, is probably worth a swerve in terms of accumulators given Caruso is not in the best form right now with five defeats from his last six matches whilst world number 13 Goffin is back on tour following a short break through injury. In normal service, this should be a straight-sets victory for the silky Belgian, who has been impressive in spells this season whilst also struggling to find consistent form, but an outright victory for the Belgian or simply leaving this match alone looks the better option. Caruso could be a tough player to put away in front of a home crowd.
