However, the Serb has not been in great shape this season and his first round opponent here is vastly tougher in world number 27 Aslan Karatsev. The Russian struggled for his best game last week in Madrid but the lower altitude clay courts of Rome should suit his tricky playstyle. The 27-year-old beat Djokovic in Serbia last month at the same tournament that Kecmanovic lost to the world number one and that looks a good benchmark for where their respective form is right now.
