31-year-old John Millman was superb in defeat to Dan Evans in the second round of the Madrid Open last Wednesday following an excellent three-set victory over the 12th seed Hubert Hurkacz. The Aussie is always a thorn in the side of anybody he faces and he should find his tireless energy fruitful against Dusan Lajovic here as the Serb is in a real rut. 30-year-old Lajovic is riding a five-match losing streak and owns a poor 6-12 record for 2021 so far. Usually the Serb would be the favourite against most players outside the top 30 on his favoured surface but Millman’s work ethic is likely to grind Lajovic’s currently delicate resolve down here so take the Aussie to win outright.
