World number 57 Aljaz Bedene came through the qualifiers as a lucky loser and that could make the Slovenian dangerous here having been gifted a second wind in Rome. He faces world number 41 Jan-Lennard Struff for only the second time and the German came through their first meeting at the 2017 Miami Open via a retirement by Bedene in the second set. Four years later this will feel like a first meeting all over again with Struff a much-improved player and the German’s form should aid him here. Stuff struggled in Madrid last week after losing the Munich Open final last Sunday but he should be refreshed now and able to win this match outright.
