Strasbourg Open’s third seed Yulia Putintseva was handed an olive branch in the round of 16 after Jill Teichmann was forced to pull out of their match in just the second game. The 26-year-old is now the highest-remaining seed in the draw and looks well capable of taking the title here this week if she can utilise this extra rest well. World number 48 Magda Linette represents a tough challenge, though and the Pole leads their head-to-head record 3-1, although Putintseva won their most recent meeting at Wimbledon in 2018. Neither player has enjoyed much form of late but Linette seems to be growing on clay after a poor run of five defeats, each in three sets.
