THE PREDICTION

Strasbourg fifth-seed Barbora Krejcikova fought well from a set down to beat Caroline Garcia and continue some strong form that saw her beat Sofia Kenin at the Italian Open two weeks ago. The Czech has her work cut out now, though, as she faces Ekaterina Alexandrova for a fourth time having never beaten the Russian before. 26-year-old Alexandrova is the third seed here and playing like one with back-to-back straight-sets defeats over Lauren Davis and Clara Burel but this too will be her toughest match of the week by some margin. This should be a tight one between world number 33 Alexandrova and number 38 Krejcikova so taking the higher seed to win at least a set looks the safest option. Take Alexandrova to win a set in a quarter-final that looks likely to need a decider.
