THE PREDICTION
Two-time Hamburg Open champion Nikoloz Basilashvili is the third seed here and has reached the quarter-finals without taking to court after Sebastian Baez was forced to withdraw from their round of 16 tie. The 29-year-old suffered a poor Wimbledon exit at the hands of Andy Murray and 7000 baying spectators two weeks ago but he has returned to a surface he knows and loves and a tournament he won in 2018 and 2019. The Georgian has already won two titles this season at the Dubai Open and Munich Open and he has five overall, three on clay. In his first match this campaign he take son fellow clay-specialist Laslo Djere after the world number 57 beat tough competition in Jan-Lennard Struff and Thiago Seyboth Wild. 26-year-old Djere will be confident of an upset considering his 3-1 head-to-head record over Basilashvili, including in a semi-final at the Sardegna Open earlier this year. With Basilashvili potentially out of match practice and coming off a poor loss, take Djere to win at least a set as the underdog in this intriguing quarter-final.
