The winner of this quarter-final between world number 16 Victoria Azarenka and number 26 Jessica Pegula could be considered a favourite for the title with so many seeds dropping out of the draw. Former world number one Azarenka has taken out two Germans in Andrea Petkovic and Angelique Kerber so far without dropping a set but she lost the only previous meeting with Pegula earlier this year at the Australian Open to make for an exciting rematch here. 27-year-old Pegula beat an out-of-sorts Karolina Pliskova on Thursday and the American is enjoying possibly her best season yet on tour.
