World number 102 Pablo Cuevas is in some serious form on his favoured surface this week in Geneva and his defeat of Grigor Dimitrov yesterday was no surprise at all given the Bulgarian’s ailing form. Nevertheless, it was an excellent win for the 35-year-old to continue his spotless performance through to the semi-finals without dropping a set and this looks a difficult match to call now. World number 15 Denis Shapovalov did brilliantly to win two matches on Thursday after rain delayed play on Wednesday and the result will be on the Canadian’s racket like most of his matches. If the 22-year-old plays his best he should be too powerful for Cuevas to handle but the Uruguayan will be fighting for every ball as the draw continues to clear up for him in Geneva. Take Cuevas to win at least a set here, an option that came in handy yesterday against Dimitrov. The veteran currently holds a 100% win rating over Shapovalov having won their only previous meeting at Indian Wells in 2018.
