World number 150 Henri Laaksonen took one of the biggest wins of his career in the second round of Roland-Garros on Wednesday with a convincing four-set victory over Roberto Bautista Agut. The 29-year-old took an early lead and held on well when the world number 11 fought back and that kind of performance looks set to earn him at least a set in this first meeting with Kei Nishikori. World number 49 Nishikori also fought a tough match on Wednesday in a five-set thriller with Karen Khachanov that twisted and turned throughout. The 31-year-old’s record in five set matches is exemplary and he has added two further five-set wins to his tally after a first round slog with Alessandro Giannessi but the Japanese star will be feeling it on Friday and a third-straight five-set tussle is unlikely to fall his way again. If you can take over three sets as an option here, do so, otherwise take Laaksonen to win at least a set in this fascinating first meeting.
