THE PREDICTION
World number 59 Dominik Koepfer is a superb clay-court competitor and the 27-year-old will thoroughly deserve his place in the top 50 if and when he breaks through this year, on this form. The German raced out in front against world number 33 Taylor Fritz before rallying well to win in four and he is playing well enough to consider this first meeting with Roger Federer a challenging hurdle, not a roadblock. World number eight Federer put in a strong performance overall against Marin Cilic but his intensity did dip in the middle, allowing the Croatian back into the match before coming through in four. Arguably, Koepfer is stronger right now on clay than Cilic so taking Federer to win outright is definitely the safest pick here. Use that in an accumulator but a one-off pick for Koepfer to win a set here looks reasonable, perhaps even two sets.
